A non-official note about non-official torrents:
1. There is actually no official torrent for Fedora Core 2. Fedora
Core 2 is scheduled to be released on next Tuesday the 18Th May and
as far as i can tell official torrents wont be available before
this day. You must realize that all these non-official torrents
might or might _not_ be Fedora Core 2.
2. All torrents MUST provide an MD5SUM file which contains checksums
for every isos. This file MUST be gpg-signed by the Fedora Project
GPG key. You can freely download this key from any gpg/pgp key
server, like pgp.mit.edu.
The Fedora Project GPG Key ID is 4F2A6FD2 (this can be easily
verified, as the public key is part of the fedora-release package
on every Fedora Core release). To verify if the MD5SUM is correctly
signed by this key, run these 2 commands :
- gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 4F2A6FD2
- gpg --verify /path/to/MD5SUM
If it returns something like :
gpg: Signature made Thu 13 May 2004 09:25:04 PM CEST using DSA key ID 4F2A6FD2
gpg: Good signature from "Fedora Project "
Then the file should be correctly signed. All isos MUST BE VERIFIED
against checksums from this file. (Read `man md5sum` for
informations about how to do so)
This advice is for your own safety.
