存在理由を教えてください

今までの150コメント余りを読んで痛切に感じたのですが、Windows 7 というのは
末端の利用者にとっていったい何なんでしょうね。そのことを Microsoft は
いまだにちゃんと説明できていないと思います。
パソコン屋の店頭に来て、できれば Windows XP のマシンが欲しいんだけど、
などと言っている普通のお客さんに対して、Windows 7 (32-bit) を売込むための
決め台詞が必要なんです。

• XP のサポート期限が切れるから? でも Windows 7 にはXPモードが付いているから、
  旧来の XP だけサポートを切るというのは Microsoft のただの意地悪でしょう?

ほんとは、ウィルス対策ソフト大手のひとつを Microsoft が買収して、そこの製品を無料バンドルすればいいのは分かっています。でも独禁法があるから不可能でしょう。

Windows XP 入りの Netbook / Nettop は 2010.06.30 まで販売可能だそうですので (Microsoft Announces Extended Availability of Windows XP Home for ULCPCs [microsoft.com])、少なくともそれまでは XP 向け新規製品は出続けるんじゃないかなあ。
