15マイクロメートルの層が有るとわかったことで、
どのように角膜移植が楽になるのでしょうか？

存在しないと思っていたためにこの層を傷つけたり、
治療において無視することが減り成功率が上がる、というのはわかりますが
なんか「簡単になる」ような要因はあるんですかねえ。

と書かれてるだけで、具体的に何をどうするとは書かれてないですね。

sci-newsの記事はGIZMODOと大して変わりませんね。さらに元を辿る元気はなかった。
「この層はとても丈夫」「この層を利用することで、よりシンプルかつ安全に手術が可能」ということなので
「よりデリケートな手技が必要な難しい手術」が
「この層があるから多少力入っちゃっても大丈夫」と変えられるよ、ということかなーと。
あとは仰る通り以下の部分で特定の病気や症状との関連も述べられていますが、
これらは安全がどうこうではなく、病気の発生などに関わる話であり
まだ今後の研究を待つレベルの話ですね。

別コメ [srad.jp]で書かれてるけども、"the big bubble (BB) technique" という従来からある手法を使う場合に、デュア層を意識することで患者の目を傷つける可能性が低くなるみたいなことは書かれてるな。
それが技術的に高度なのか平易なのかは知らんけれども、「手術が簡単になる」というのを「手術の成功率が高くなる」という意味に取れば理解できないかな？
